CANON INDIA AND WOCKHARDT FOUNDATION – Free Mobile Eye Screening Camps

Being in the imaging industry, Canon believes in the right for every person to enjoy the gift of vision. Eye care is a cause close to Canon’s core philosophy.
Canon and Wockhardt Foundation have entered in an alliance for the cause of Right to Vision. Vans at 6 locations (Mumbai, Aurangabad, Amethi, Pondicherry, Chennai and Lucknow) diagnose people with Cataract, Glaucoma and other eye related problems and provide free medical treatment and operation. Within a span of 5 months, approx. 3500 people have been screened.
CANON INDIA AND SWYAA INDIA – Open schools for disadvantaged children


Canon and Ship for World Youth Alumni Association–India (SWYAA-India)have set up twelve open schools to educate over 1000 disadvantaged children in the age group of 4 to 14 years living in eight slum clusters of Mayapuri, Naraina, Kirti Nagar and Chankyapuri area in Delhi. The project goal is to help economically disadvantaged children to get quality education in these open schools. The schools will provide basic primary level education as per the school syllabus for these children so that they are able to enter the school system and get enrolled in the government primary schools
CANON INDIA AND UNICEF INDIA – ‘AWAAZ DO’ CAMPAIGN

Canon India is proud to partner with UNICEF 'Awaaz Do' campaign in promoting the Right to Education in India.
The 'Awaaz Do' campaign aims at creating a movement, at building a platform where people can have access to and share information about the RTE.
CANON INDIA & UNESCO INDIA – MY COUNTRY’S WORLD HERITAGE

Canon India is supporting a project of UNESCO New Delhi, called - My Country's World Heritage.
The main objective of this project is to create awareness and sensitize the masses. especially children and youth about the importance and relevance of world heritage today. The objective is also to create interest amongst students towards our heritage and history using photography as a medium of communication to voice their concern towards the preservation and importance of these sites and our environment.
This 7 months activity begins with a series of photography workshops conducted for the local school children at various UNESCO world heritage sites. Post workshops, the children will be encouraged to click photographs and take part in a photo competition. A small exhibition will also be organised to showcase the entries sent by the school children

CANON INDIA & BEYOND SIGHT FOUNDATION
Canon India is supporting a six months training programme in association with Beyond Sight Foundation to conduct photography classes for approx.560 visually impaired in Mumbai, Goa, Mt. Abu, Ahmedabad, Surat and Bangalore. Local sighted photographers will be trained under "Train the Trainer" program on the methodology for teach photography to the visually impaired. On completion of their classes, each school will showcase best 100 pictures during the Foundation Days or any special day that school decides.
CANON INDIA & NAB (E&T), MANESAR

Canon India is supporting an eco-drive – Project “Vriksha” initiated by NAB (E&T), Manesar. Canon is a proud partner of this environmental drive wherein free saplings will be distributed to the commuters at the Delhi-Gurgaon Toll Plaza. This activity is scheduled for July 2011 where Canon is aiming to reach out to approx. 1lac commuters who cross the toll plaza every day. Our aim is to reach out to maximum no. of people through this activity to highlight the plight of our environment that we live in and to showcase that a small effort from the citizens can go a long way in preserving the environment.
Canon India has also been actively participating in other small scale activities to support our community and encourage employee participation. Blood donation camps have been organised in Hyderabad and Gurgaon office in association with NTR Blood Bank and Indian Red Cross Society. The event received an overwhelming response from both the offices.


Canon India also participated in the memory walk organised by ‘Alzheimer and Related Disorders Society – Hyderabad Deccan Chapter’. It was a 3km walk to showcase the community’s solidarity for those suffering from dementia. It also took part in various marathons like the ‘Hyderabad 10km run’ and the ‘Pune Marathon’. The objective of these events was to create awareness towards good health and AIDS.
