The advanced technology in the new PowerShot G1X Mark II is supplemented by innovative design features such as dual control rings that grant users maximum control over their shots. The inner step ring can be customized to instantly adjust shutter speed, aperture or exposure value settings while the outer continuous ring can be used for making fine manual focus adjustments and also for other customizable setting adjustments.
For users who like to take selfies or extremely high or low angle shots, the PowerShot G1X Mark II uses a unique tilt-design for its touch-screen LCD. This LCD can be tilted up to 180 degrees, or tilted down to 45 degrees, giving users a great deal of freedom while framing shots. When tilted up 180 degrees, it becomes the best way for users to take selfies as you can easily see the framing of your shot.
A mode that will be a hit with nocturnal photographers is the advanced Star Mode, which includes functions like Star Nightscape that emphasize on the brightest stars, Star Trail that at a slow-shutter shoots stars with trails, and the advanced Star Time-Lapse movie where the stars can be shot with "tail or trail" effect like a comet or shooting star. A new function is the Star Portrait function, where a human subject and the starry sky can be composited into the shot so that both the subject and the stars are optimally lit and emphasized.
