Mr Dawam started CV. Dasa Prima as a photocopy shop in 1996 with a single copier. Over the years, with his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit, his business expanded rapidly to five outlets by 2008 to provide more services such as plotting, scanning and digital printing! "Eleven years ago when CV. Dasa Prima entered the market, customers demand were mainly simple black and white photocopying. However, over the years, with the proliferation of color copiers and printers, customers are demanding colorful reports, name cards, photo albums, food menu and more, in small quantity. Traditionally, offset printing is able to cater to such demands. However, it is not feasible for small quantity because there is a minimum print quantity in order to achieve economies of scale. Also, such jobs often come with a very short lead time due to customers' last minute requirements and this is hard to meet," said Dawam, Managing Director of CV. Dasa Prima.

The Solution

Digital Printing with Great Speed & Quality
In its initial phase, CV. Dasa Prima purchased the Canon imagePRESS (iPR) C1 to address the demand for short print runs of colorful books and manuals. This elite printer yields print quality that is close to that of commercial printers. It does this by optimizing the special characteristic of the melting point of the toner according to the glossiness of the media. This evens out the glossiness of the paper surface without relying on the amount of toner used to create print quality that is close to that of the original images created. With this ability, CV. Dasa Prima is able meet customers' demand for color print jobs in small quantity.

Since the imagePRESS C1 is able to produce print quality that is close to that of commercial printers, it is also used for proofing their color documents before sending it for offset printing.

However, the market demands for short runs of color printed documents continues to increase, thus CV. Dasa Prima needs a faster device. In 2007, Canon launched a revolutionary imagePRESS (iPR) C7000VP that prints at an incredible speed of 70 pages per minute while maintaining the same "commercial-like" print quality. In addition, it can also accept thick media of up to 300 gsm without compromising its speed.

Ease of Use
The iPR C7000VP's real time calibration helps to deliver color consistency in all its printouts. Before an "out of color" page is printed, the imagePRESS will automatically detect the problem and make changes to ensure the next page produces the correct color.
