As a creator
of various professional-looking brochures and
manuals, Yamagata's production department is constantly
busy at work with the creation of artwork and
content for the brochures and manuals of its huge
clientele in the corporate sector. Before these
brochures and manuals go into offset printing,
Yamagata would deliver printed copies of the final
artwork to their clients to sign off for approval.
Cost of
Courier
"In the days before implementing Canon solution,
Yamagata would send about 20 of such jobs a month
to a third party color proofing company where
professionally created artworks of manuals, magazines
and brochures are printed for clients'''' approval,"
said Joseph Tan, production manager of Yamagata.
"The process
is costly as softcopies of the printed files are
first couriered to the proofing company for color
printing and subsequently couriered back to Yamagata.
For twenty jobs, this works out to approximately
$320 per month. It is our aim to streamline this
cost," Joseph explained.
Long Turnaround
Time
"Besides the high cost of courier, the turnaround
time of tvo days would lead to long waiting time
for our clients, which can be stressful in situations
of tight deadlines. In order to better satisfy
clients' needs, Yamagata needs to improve its
turnaround time. The world is getting more competitive
and nowadays, customers demand faster response
time. We need to keep up with the customers' needs
to keep them happy.'
Yamagata found
the answer in Canon's imagePRESS C1, an elite
printer that yields print quality close to that
of commercial printers. It does this by optimizing
the special characteristic of the melting point
of the toner according to the glossiness of the
media. This evens out the glossiness of the paper
surface without relying on the amount of toner
used to create print quality that is close to
that of the original images created. With this
ability, Yamagata is able print their proofing
documents in-house. This eliminated outsource
proofing and hence the company saved $320 per
month.
"In addition,
the pursuit to improve customer service through
faster response time to clients is realized. Proofing,
which used to take two days by courier, is now
instantaneous as the imagePRESS C1 delivers quality
print on the spot," Joseph added.
Since the imagePRESS
C1 is able to par its print quality with that
of commercial printers, it is also used to print
documents such as name cards, staff guide books
and proposals to portray Yamagata's professional
image.
"The Canon
imagePRESS C1 has served us well in terms of cost
savings on monthly courier. Most importantly,
we are able to respond faster to our clients,
which gives us an edge in our business,"
Joseph concluded.
- Canon's imagePRESS C1 is able to yield print
quality dose to that of commercial printers
- In-house printing eliminated courier cost
which resulted in a monthly savings of $320
- In-house printing of proofing materials helped
Yamagata to respond faster to customers
