DPEX Worldwide
Express Pte Ltd is an international express company
that provides the business community with fast,
reliable and secure door-to-door express delivery
to over 180 countries and territories worldwide.
Considered the 5th largest express company in
the Asia region, DPEX has over 155 locations in
the region, 8000 collections each working day
across Asia, 1800 employees working for DPEX network
offices and more than 32,000 customers. Its extensive
use of technology throughout the network provides
efficiency, security and “track ability”
to ensure that they exceed customers' expectations
by the highest standards of service quality through
professionalism and commitment. Today, DPEX enjoys
a high brand profile ranking top 5 in most Asia
countries.
As one of the
leading players in the competitive express services
industry, DPEX is continually looking for ways
to improve its service level and cost structure
as well as to increase productivity. Previously
DPEX used an older Canon desktop scanner and a
multi function machine to scan its consignment
notes (connotes).
However, the
volume of connotes increased as the company grew
rapidly. To cope with the increased volume of
connotes to be scanned daily, the company started
to look for a faster and better high-volume scanning
solution. Accurate and speedy capture of relevant
details such as the consignment details, proof
of delivery, especially the bar code of the connotes,
was crucial because it act as a back up in the
event the hardcopies are destroyed.
DPEX narrowed
down their search to Canon’s award-winning
DR-9080C after the I.T. team identified it to
meet the production scanning needs of DPEX.
Using the Canon
DR9080C scanner, DPEX staff scan their daily connotes
at a high speed of 90 pages per minute in duplex
mode. The advanced on-board JPEG compression technology
and new CIS line sensors of the scanner enabled
high scanning speed which reduced the scanning
time of over 3000 connotes from a day to half
a day, thus doubling the staff’s productivity!
This accommodates DPEX’s average volume
of over 66,000 connotes received in a month.
“Canon
DR 9080C Scanner has shown versatility and reliability
to meet DPEX’s requirements to capture its
key connotes data without the loss of consistency
or quality,” said Mr. Derek Lee, Group CEO,
Pericom Imaging (S) Pte Ltd. “It is perfectly
suited to meet the growing needs of industries
and professions faced with the increased demand
to convert huge amount of paper data into knowledge
management.”
The scan quality
of wrinkled documents is also improved, thanks
to both the scanner sensor’s dual light
configuration and a platen roller that holds documents
firmly against the sensor.
Canon DR9080C
scanner’s ultrasonic double feed detector
also senses gap between overlapping pages to prevent
documents from being fed together. Papers of various
thickness and size are scanned in a single batch
without misfeed or jam thus ensuring a smooth
and efficient high volume operation.
“An integrated
and efficient processing system for our connotes
is critical to our success in today’s increasingly
competitive industry,” said Mr. Robert Rawcliffe,
Operations Director, DPEX Worldwide Express Pte
Ltd. “Canon DR9080C scanner’s reliability,
performance and ease of use have helped DPEX confidently
handle the increasing volume of paper work and
improved business at the same time. We expect
to achieve even better productivity, information
security and customer service as we continue to
grow rapidly.”
